One of the great benefits of owning a home in the Boise area is Idaho’s Homeowners exemption. It basically works like this, if you own a home as your primary residence you file an exemption with the Ada County Assessor. When filed you get a break on the taxable value of your home for your property taxes. Effective January 1, 2011 the homeowner’s exemption for owner occupied homes and manufactured homes can reduce taxable value up to a maximum of $92,040 for the value of the home and up to one acre of land. This is a change from the current maximum of $101,153. The 2011 property taxes are due December 20, 2011 and June 20, 2012. For more information about the benefits of home ownership or if your curious if your home currently has it’s exemption filed give me a call.
